This is merely a quote from a FB Page that cites Rectenwald's recent post.  I agree with his observation and intend to become acquainated with some of his books Springtime for Snowflakes, Google Archipelago, and Beyond Woke:


The "libertarian" argument that Facebook et al. are private companies and likewise that they don't censor is specious and patently mistaken. Facebook et al. are *state apparatuses*. They grant backdoor access to user data to the NSA; they have contracts with and are virtually extensions of the intelligence industry; in the case of Facebook, startup capital came vis-a-vis In-Q-Tel, the CIA's own private-sector venture capital investment firm, to fund promising start-ups that might create technologies useful for intelligence agencies. They police opinion so that it confirms to official state narratives and excludes or bans other perspectives. These are no less extensions of the state than any military or intelligence contractor.

A few years ago, Michael Rectenwald was a Marxist professor at NYU, pursuing his career and contemplating becoming a Trotskyist, when the political climate on campus - victimology, cancel-culture, no-platforming, and political correctness run-amok - began to bother him. He responded by creating a Twitter handle, @AntiPCNYUProf (now @TheAntiPCProf), and began bashing campus excesses with humor and biting satire. Predictably, he was soon discovered and pushed out of his job.

Rectenwald struck back by publishing Springtime for Snowflakes, a memoir of his experiences in academia, which included criticism and analyses of the leftism now dominating campus culture. He followed that book with Google Archipelago, which delves into the seeming enigma of why big business embraces far-left politics - hint: self-interest is involved - and the rapid growth of consumer/citizen surveillance. The foundation for a robust leftist totalitarianism is being carefully laid.

With this new volume, Rectenwald returns with his characteristic sharp wit and incisive analysis and continues to fine tune his critique of modern leftism. He brings his unique perspective as an ex-Marxist and civil libertarian to bear on leftist culture, with its abandonment of traditional morality and emphasis on collective social identities -- which are ironically increasingly atomized, as overwhelming centrifugal forces break up any previously stable social cohesion.

ALPHA MALE DAD takes down LAPD Officer at festival

May 2007 Mark Dornan doesn't like creepers taking "pictures" of his young daughter at the Garden Grove California Strawberry Festival, so he tackles him, TAKES his gun, TAKES his camera, and learns afterward the man is an LAPD off-duty - as of yet unnamed - police officer. There were other pictures of other children - and pics of his own daughter from AN HOUR EARLIER. Authorities did not identify the officer, but confirmed that he works for the Los Angeles Police Department... The man was not arrested and police said the photos of the children were not considered pornographic. Police, however, took his camera but did not confiscate his gun because he carries a license...
